Can cats eat onions?
✕Toxic for cats
No. Cats are even more sensitive to onions than dogs, and small amounts can cause anemia.
Why onions are dangerous
Cats’ red blood cells are especially easy to damage. Onion powder hides in many human foods, including soups, sauces and some baby foods once used to tempt sick cats.
Signs of poisoning
- Lethargy and weakness
- Pale gums
- Fast breathing
- Red or brown urine
- Vomiting
How much is dangerous?
Very small amounts can affect a cat, especially if eaten more than once.
What to do right now
